Where Can You Ride Waymo Now?

Waymo operates driverless taxis, so the vehicle does the driving without anyone behind the wheel. Riders can use the service in Phoenix, the Bay Area (San Francisco), Los Angeles, Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Nashville, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, San Antonio, and Tampa.

How Service Started in Each City

Many cities opened in stages, with a small group of riders first and everyone else a few months later. Here's how it went in each place.

  • Phoenix: riders across Metro Phoenix can use the service, and fully driverless public rides have been running since October 2020.
  • Austin: Uber began offering driverless rides in March 2025.
  • Dallas: an invitation-only pilot welcomed its first members of the public in February 2026, before the service opened broadly in August 2026.
  • Miami: the first members of the public joined in January 2026, and everyone could use the service from April 2026.
  • Nashville: public rides started in April 2026, and the service opened to everyone on June 25, 2026.
  • Orlando: the public could begin using the service in April 2026.
  • San Diego: public rides started in September 2026, and the service is now open to everyone.
  • San Antonio: public service opened in October 2026 and included the airport.
  • Tampa: the first members of the public joined in September 2026, and everyone could use the service from October 2026.

Cities on a Waitlist or in Testing

On a waitlist, riders sign up and are admitted a few at a time. Two cities currently follow this approach:

Testing cities have Waymo vehicles on the road, but the public cannot use them for rides. Some tests include a safety specialist in the vehicle. This trained Waymo employee stays aboard while the car drives itself.
