- Testing
Waymo is still testing its cars in Philadelphia, so booking a ride isn't possible right now. A trained specialist sits in every vehicle, and the company still needs approval from the state before passengers can ride.

Where Things Stand
Waymo vehicles are out on Philadelphia roads for testing purposes only. Each trip includes a specialist, a trained Waymo employee who stays in the car while it handles the driving. According to Axios, those cars have covered 150,000 miles in the city, and public rides are not offered.
Waymo has also brought its Ojai vehicle to Philadelphia for testing, Axios reports.
Is There a Ride Map?
There isn't a ride map to look at, since public rides aren't offered in Philadelphia yet. The vehicles you spot around town are running test drives that no one can book.
Where Can You Ride?
No part of Philadelphia is open to Waymo riders yet. Testing takes place across the city, though riders have no pickup or drop-off zones to use.
Philadelphia appears on Waymo's list of cities under "Up Next." That means the company has named it as a future market, but no launch date has been announced.
What Has to Happen First?
A robotaxi handles its own driving and picks up paying passengers without a driver behind the wheel. Waymo needs state approval before it can operate that way in Philadelphia, as Axios reports. Approval from Pennsylvania would allow the cars to use public roads with nobody at the controls.
No approval date has been announced.
Can You Ride a Driverless Taxi Here?
Not yet. Waymo is testing here but isn't taking passengers, so for now you'd need to visit a city where driverless rides are already running.
